Shaz Bennet currently produces and writes on the police procedural BOSCH on Amazon and she has directed on Ava Duvernay’s episodic QUEEN SUGAR on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Shaz’s debut feature film ALASKA IS A DRAG, which she produced, wrote and directed, was highlighted as one to watch in Vogue, Filmmaker and other publications and won best feature film and Jury awards for Best Director at Leeds, Chattanooga, Urbanworld and the Smithsonian African American Film Festival among others. Before becoming a film producer, Shaz worked in a fish cannery; bartended at a mafia bar; was a film programmer at Sundance, LA Film Festival and AFI FEST; she developed films for actor Giancarlo Esposito; peddled liquor undercover; and was Cher’s stand-in for one day. Her films and performance pieces have been presented in festivals, theaters, museums and abandoned warehouses all over the United States, Mexico, Canada, South Africa and Europe
