Laura Mara Tablón, was born on December 3rd, 1979. Lawyer, filmmaker and film producer.

At the beginning of her career, she joined as a partner to the film company DOMENICA FILMS, and with Pepe Salvia, she produced films such as “El día trajo la oscuridad” (“Darkness by day”) and “María y el Araña” (“Maria and Spider”).

In 2015, with Maríapaula Rithner, she founded RITA CINE, an audiovisual film company focused on auteur movies and telling unique stories across the world.

In 2017, she produced the film “Vendrán lluvias suaves” (“There will come soft rains”) by Iván Fund, which was awarded in the Mar del Plata International Film Festival 2018, with the Special Prize of the Jury in the International Competition.

Also in 2017, she won the INCAA Opera Prima Contest with the project “Mamá, mamá, mamá” (“Mum, Mum, Mum”) by Sol Berruezo Pichon-Rivière, which she produced with her film company Rita Cine and coproduced by Bomba Cine. This film was shot in 2019 with an entirely female team and cast.

In 2018, she embarked on a new challenge, co-directing with Florencia de Mugica, the documentary “La excusa del Sueño Americano” (“The excuse of the American Dream”). The film is about the relationship between Florencia and her mother, exiled in Miami since her daughter’s adolescence. The project won the INCAA 2017 Project Incubator Contest, participated in the Arché 2018 Laboratory in DocLisboa Festival and had its premiere at the BAFICI 2019 Argentine Competition, winning the 1st Sound Mention.

Towards the end of 2018 she was selected as a jury of the INCAA Opera Prima Contest.

In 2018 and 2019, she won two INCAA Contests with the projects “Piedra Noche” (“Dusk Stone”) and “Emi”, by directors Iván Fund and Ezequiel Erriquez, respectively.

In 2019 she completed the shooting of four feature films: “Mamá, mamá, mamá”, “Weekend”, “Piedra Noche” and “La Crecida” (The flood).

She actively participates in APIMA (film producers association).

At the beginning of 2020, the film “Mamá, mamá, mamá”, produced by her film Company Rita Cine, was released at the 70º Berlinale Edition in the Generation K Plus Competition and awarded with the Special Mention of the Jury.

Soon, she will present three films in San Sebastian Film Festival. The film “Nosotros nunca moriremos” (We will never die) from Eduardo Crespo will have its premiere in the Official Competition. “Mamá, mama, mama” will have its Spanish Premiere in Horizontes Latinos Section. And also, the film “Piedra Noche”, from Iván Fund, will be screened in the WIP LATAM Competition in the same film festival.
