Aley is an Interactive Narrative Experience Designer focused on creating immersive AR/VR and mixed reality experiences. He believes in the power of harnessing skills and knowledge from various fields. Motivated by this belief, he pursued a double major in Computer Engineering and Graphic Design as well as a minor in Mathematics at the American University in Cairo (AUC). Then he earned an MA in Independent Games and Playable Experience Design at Goldsmiths University in London. After graduation, he worked with PunchDrunk (the leading UK immersive theatre company in the UK) on prototyping narrative experiences and then joined No Ghost (an award winning real-time creative animation studio) as a creative technologist.
His work has been acknowledged internationally: two of his projects “El-Manseb” and “The Game of Me” were recently awarded both Gold and Silver for the Cairo Design Awards 2022. His interactive installation “The Game Of Me” has been exhibited in EGX London, A-Maze Berlin, Laval Virtual France, Playtime Bruges, Blon Lithuania and got nominated for BBA Artist Prize Berlin 2022 and the Best Digital Moment Award 2022 at A Maze Festival.
Aley’s work revolves around exploring the accessibility of knowledge in relation to power. He relies on emotional design and tries to channel his personal experiences, thoughts and emotions in his projects.
Aside from design and technology, Aley is an independent musician. He has been working for a couple of years on his debut Arabic album which is called “subconscious Letters” with his first single “Basra7 Fel Leil” getting over 250K streams and reaching top 10 charts in Arabic Indie Music. His songs have been added to 8,548 playlist and hit the top charts 99 times.
