Liz Hinlein is an accomplished DGA director and cinematographer, whose first feature, OTHER PEOPLE’S CHILDREN, was praised as “an intriguing debut” by Variety. It premiered at the Director’s Guild of America, was awarded the Panavision New Filmmakers Grant, won multiple film festival honors, screened internationally, and is currently broadcast on AppleTV and Amazon Prime. Liz’s short films; WHITE BOY’S CAN’T DANCE and HAUTE VOLTAGE screened globally at many festivals including the Berlin Film Festival, Slamdance, and The Hamptons Film Festival.
She recently wrote, directed, and produced the short film, THE SUN WILL COME OUT featuring Broadway star Mandy Gonzalez (Hamilton, Wicked, In the Heights). Throughout her career Liz has directed high-profile commercials, VR/AR experiences, and music videos for artists and brands such as Walmart, Castrol, NFL, Dove, Lifetime, Revlon, Gillette, Maybelline, A&E, Wella, NARS Cosmetics, Bare Minerals, Clairol, and MAC Cosmetics among others. Additionally, Liz has creative directed and photographed projects for many superstar musicians including Mary J. Blige, Britney Spears, Quincy Jones, Incubus, and Fishbone.
She is a graduate of the DGA DDI, Sony and Viacom television directing programs and has shadowed master TV directors including Marcos Siega, Jennifer Lynch and Bethany Rooney. Liz is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts and received her MFA in Cinematography from The American Film Institute. Liz is the Creative Director of Film and Cinematography at the New York Film Academy. She created and hosts the popular zoom talk show series THE 20/20 which currently has over 1.5 million followers. Liz is currently in development on an immersive project about the rise and ruin of the maverick Philadelphia-based revolutionary group MOVE, and a feature film dramedy, GETTING TOMMY LAID, inspired by her autistic twin brother.
