Born in Xi’an, China in 1985, Niu Han was brought up in New Zealand. He graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts and Screen Production at the University of Auckland, currently a PhD candidate at China Central Academy of Fine Arts.
Niu Han’s professional career in film began from working as the director’s assistant of John Woo. His production credits include Red Cliff I & II, The Karate Kid, Flying Swords of Dragon Gate. Since 2012 Niu Han founded his production office Niufilm in Beijing. He returned to New Zealand to make his first feature film Land of Nobody, currently in post production.
Niu Han was a participant of the Berlinale Talents 2015, his films have been collected by China and New Zealand’s Film Archive.
