David White has directed and produced a now substantial body of documentary and drama work that have enjoyed considerable international success, among them Shihad: Beautiful Machine, I Kill, The Cleanest Pig and Killer? His work has screened at over 50 film festivals including Sundance, AFI, SXSW, SilverDocs, Tribeca, MIFF, TRUE/FALSE, Clermont Ferrand and been commissioned and screened on BBC, Sky, and American channels The Documentary Channel and PIVOT. In 2013 David was asked to be one of thirty international directors to create a focus forward short documentary film alongside Oscar nominated Morgan Spurlock, Lucy Walker and Alex Gibney. He was the first New Zealander to be shortlisted for a Cinema Eye Honor for his film I Kill. His documentary Little Criminals (2015) aired on PRIME TV to ratings and critical acclaim. He has just finished his currently theatrical documentary MEAT funded by NZOA / NZFC, Executive Produced by Phil Fairclough (Grizzly Man / Cave of Forgotten Dreams) has just premiered his latest drama The Couple at the Clermont Ferrand Film festival in France and is currently directing a TV documentary to air 2017. He is an elected member on the board of SPADA. Has a BBQ sauce and lathes bowls in his spare time.
