Mariana Ferraz was born in Rio de Janeiro, has a degree in Journalism and a postgraduate degree in Communication and Image from PUC-Rio. In early 2022, she participated in the Rotterdam Lab and is currently producing the feature film “Tale of a Certain Orient”, directed by Marcelo Gomes and a co-production between Brazil and Italy. In 2020, she produced the short “Private Photos” by Marcelo Grabowsky, that participated in several festivals such as Frameline, Palm Springs ShortFest. Also, in 2020, she produced the documentary “Lights On”, by Guilherme Coelho, screened at the São Paulo Film Festival and at the Rio Film Festival. She produced the documentary “The House is an Island Made of Wind and Rain”, by Letícia Simões, selected for the Cinélatino de Toulouse. She coordinated the creative hubs of FSA (Audiovisual Sector Fund) for Matizar Filmes, which developed the scripts for three features and two series over 18 months. In 2015, as an executive producer, she produced “Orphans of Eldorado”, a feature based on the novel wrote by Milton Hatoum. She also worked in the production of the films “Cildo” (by Gustavo Rosa de Moura); “5+5+” (by Rodrigo Lamounier); and “Fernando Lemos, Trough the Image” and “A Sunday with Frederico Morais” (by Guilherme Coelho) that make up a TV series of documentaries about contemporary Brazilian art.
