Biennale College Cinema 2023/24: The 4 Final Projects Selected

The pre-production workshop begins on January 10th.
The Italian call for applications for the 13th edition of the Biennale College Cinema will be open from January 18th to April 15th.
The 12 projects of the 8th Biennale College Cinema – Immersive to be presented on January 18th at Ca’ Giustinian, Venice.

 

The selection has been completed for the four projects, from Ghana, Hungary, Italy, Ukraine and USA, that will move on to the production phase for the feature-length films of the 12th edition (2023 – 2024) of the Biennale College – Cinema. After the screenwriting workshop that ended on December 7th 2023, from today Wednesday January 10th the pre-production workshop begins and will end on January 16th. The Italian call for applications for the 13th edition of Biennale College – Cinema will open from  January 18th  (through April 15th).

The four teams, consisting of a director and a producer, are as follows:

· Honeymoon – director Zhanna Ozirna (Ukraine) | producer Dmytro Sukhanov (Ukraine) – debut film

· January 2  – director Zsófia Szilágyi (Hungary) | producer Dóra Csernátony (Hungary) – sophomore film

· My Birthday / Il mio compleanno – director Christian Filippi (Italy) | producer Leonardo Baraldi (Italy) – debut film

· The Fisherman – director Zoey Martinson (USA) | producer Kofi Owusu Afriyie (Ghana) – debut film

After the conclusion of the pre-production, the actual production of the four micro-budget feature-length films now begins, with a € 200,000 grant each from La Biennale. The four films will be presented at the 81th Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia 2024.

 

Biennale College Cinema, organized by La Biennale di Venezia, is supported by the Ministry of Culture – General Directorate Cinema. The main sponsor of the initiative is Vivendi. Biennale College Cinema relies on the academic collaboration of the Gotham Film & Media Institute and the TorinoFilmLab. The educational activities are made possible by the Creative Europe – Media programme.
The Director is Alberto Barbera, Head of Programme is Savina Neirotti.

 

The activities of the Biennale College Cinema Immersive, now in its 8th edition (2023-2024), continue with the participation of the 12 selected projects in the international workshop which will begin in Venice on Thursday January 11th, and will end Thursday January 18th with a presentation at Ca’ Giustinian, Venice.
