Mary is Happy, Mary is Happy won 4 Thailand National Film Awards on Sunday, February 23rd 2014. Patcha Poonpiriya won the award for Best Actress for her role of Mary, and Chonnikan Netjui won the award for Best Supporting Actress for the role of Suri, the lead character’s best friend.
Pairach Khumwan won the award for Best Cinematography, and Chonlasit Upanigkit won the award for Best Editing thanks to its original and daring work. Mary is Happy, Mary is Happy was also nominated for other 6 Thailand National Film Awards: best picture, direction, screenplay, production design, costume design and original score.
The film directed by Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit and produced by Aditya Assarat is one of the finalist projects of 2012/13 Biennale College – Cinema. It world premiered at the 70th Venice International Film Festival, it was presented in several festivals all over the world and was released in Thailand on November 28th 2013 getting a huge success.
Mary is Happy, Mary is Happy is also nominated for 9 Bangkok Critics Assembly Awards.
