Posted by Biennale

The call for participation of the second edition of Biennale College – Cinema closed on July 10th 2013. The call was launched online on May 8th. Biennale College – Cinema is a project open to teams formed by directors at their debut or second film, and producers who have completed at least 3 audiovisual products distributed and/or presented at festivals. The 2013/14 edition will select 12 projects that will be announced during the 70th Venice International Film Festival 2013. The 3 finalist projects, announced after an initial workshop to be held in Venice, will then be funded with a contribution of 150,000 euro each, and the 3 feature-length films will be presented at the 71st Venice Film Festival 2014.

Biennale College – Cinema is the higher education workshop for the development and production of micro-budget full-length feature films for emerging directors and producers from all over the world. Organized by the Biennale di Venezia in partnership with Gucci, the project has enjoyed international success during its 2012/13 edition, which will end during the 70th Venice International Film Festival 2013 with the screenings of the three finalist feature films: Memphis (Usa), The Year of June (Thailand) e Yuri Esposito (Italy).

Biennale College – Cinema, developed by the Biennale di Venezia in partnership with Gucci, is supported by the Ministry for the Cultural Heritage and Activities – General Direction Cinema, by the Regione del Veneto and – for the first time this year – by Eurasia IFF, Kazakhstan. Biennale College – Cinema, for the second year in a row, will rely on the academic collaboration of IFP in New York, and the collaboration of the Dubai International Film Festival and the TorinoFilmLab. Finally – also for the first time – a new collaboration is opening with the Busan International Film Festival. The Director is Alberto Barbera, the Head of Programme Savina Neirotti.
