Helvecio Marins Jr., 1973, has a master degree in Cinema by PUC University in Brazil His films had received more than 60 prizes in International and Brazilian film festivals as Venice, Habana, Nantes, Barcelona, Mar del Plata and Brasilia. The films were selected in important film festivals and museums as Venice, Berlinale, Locarno, Toronto, Rotterdam, San Sebastian, IDFA, Sundance, Centre Georges Pompidou, NY MoMA, among others. The main short films made by Helvecio are “2 Men”, 16mm, 2001; “Nascente”, 35mm, 2005; “Trecho”, 35mm, 2006; “Nor a trot or a canter” video, 2009; “Fernando que ganhou um pássaro do mar”, DCP, 2013. They were also sold for some TVs all over the world. “Girimunho” (Swirl) his first feature film made its world premiere in 68th Venice Film Festival where received an Interfilm Award. The film had been distributed in France, Spain and other 5 countries where received great critics as in Le Monde, The Hlwd Reporter, Sight and Sound, El Mundo, Telerama, etcs. In 2012, Vila do Conde International Short Film Festival in Portugal had made a retrospective of his works. Actually Helvecio works in his next feature films projects “The wife of the man who eats laser beams”, supported by Hubert Bals Fund and “Fazenda do Ribeirão do Queba” (which will be shotting, probably, on march 2015). Helvecio is currently attending DAAD artistic residence in Berlin, 2014.
