The Death of J.P. Cuenca to start shooting in April

Posted by Biennale

We are happy to announce that The Death of J.P. Cuenca, project selected for the first workshop of 2012/13 Biennale College – Cinema, is officially in pre-production and shooting will start in April!

The Death of J.P. Cuenca is directed by Brazilian novelist João Paulo Cuenca and produced by Marina Meliande. Here’s the logline of the movie:

A mysterious man steals the identity of J.P. Cuenca to die in a squat building downtown Rio. While in pre-olympic times the city transforms itself, we follow a puzzle of misguided identities and enigma in the heart of the neighbourhood of Lapa.

The film will be developed along two parallel axes. On one side, the investigation by J.P.Cuenca and detectives into the life of the man who had been using his name (an indigent from the neighborhood of Lapa, Rio de Janeiro, according to information revealed by the Police).

On the other side, overall, there are the emotional and symbolical effects of the case on Cuenca himself. Discover more about The Death of J.P. Cuenca in its dedicated area in the website.
