Zsófia Szilágyi graduated as a Teacher of Hungarian Language and Literature from the University of Pécs in 2002. She continued her education as a Film and TV Director at University of Theater and Film Arts in Budapest from 2002 to 2007. During her studies, she won a scholarship at the Leonardo Da Vinci Programme and studied film production at the Mediopolis Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH, Berlin in 2006. She worked as an assistant lecturer to Golden Bear and Oscar-nominated director Ildikó Enyedi at the University of Theater and Film Arts in Budapest between 2007 and 2009. She worked on numerous shorts and documentaries, as a casting director in Lili Horvat’s The Wednesday Child and Preparation to Be Together for an Unknown Period of Time, and an assistant to director in Ildiko Enyedi’s On Body and Soul.
One Day was Zsófia’s debute feature film premiering at the Cannes International Film Festival / Semaine de la Critique in 2018. The film was presented at several prestigious festivals from Sydney to Sarajevo, and won major awards. Furthermore, it was nominated for the European Film Awards in 2018.

Zsófia Szilágyi ha studiato all’Università di Pécs laureandosi in Lingua e Letteratura ungherese nel 2002. Ha proseguito gli studi come regista cinematografica e televisiva presso l’Università di Arti Teatrali e Cinematografiche di Budapest dal 2002 al 2007. Durante gli studi ha ottenuto una borsa di studio nell’ambito del Programma Leonardo Da Vinci e nel 2006 ha studiato produzione cinematografica presso la Mediopolis Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH di Berlino. Tra il 2007 e il 2009 ha lavorato all’Università di Arti Teatrali e Cinematografiche di Budapest come ricercatrice e assistente della regista Ildikó Enyedi, candidata all’Orso d’Oro e all’Oscar. Ha collaborato a numerosi cortometraggi e documentari, ha lavorato come direttrice del casting in The Wednesday Child e in Preparation to Be Together for an Unknown Period of Time di Lili Horvat, e come assistente alla regia in On Body and Soul di Ildikó Enyedi.
One Day è stato il debutto di Zsófia nel lungometraggio, proiettato in prima visione al Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Cannes / Semaine de la Critique nel 2018. Inoltre, il film è stato nominato agli European Film Awards nel 2018.
