Nihaarika Negi is an independent filmmaker/screenwriter and an immersive theatre-maker. She holds an MA in Physical Performance and Actor-Training (University of Exeter, UK) and has performed at venues like the Roundhouse Theatre, The King’s Head, Battersea Arts Center, SPILL Festival, Barbican Pit Labs (UK) and her work has been supported by the UK Arts Council. In India, she is a multi-award winning theatre actor whose theatre works have been commissioned by QueerInk, Serendipity Arts Festival (India) and Ivo Theatre (UK).
Her first feature as a writer/director/producer was screened at the National Center of Performing Arts in India. Her second feature as a screenwriter (The Threshold) opened to critical-acclaim at international festivals and was awarded Best Actor & Actress at New York Indian Film Festival 2016 and Best Film (Audience Choice) at Washington DC South Asian Film Festival 2017. She was an official participant at the NFDC Romance Screenwriter’s Lab 2014 (India) and Venice Biennale: College Cinema: VR Lab (2018). She is currently an MFA candidate at the Peter Stark Producing Program (University of Southern California, USA).
