Ricky D’Ambrose is a writer and filmmaker in New York. His first feature, Notes on an Appearance, premiered at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival and is distributed in the United States by Grasshopper Film. His short films have been included in the official selections at the New York Film Festival, the Vienna International Film Festival, New Directors/New Films, and the Jeonju International Film Festival, among others. In 2017, he was named one of Filmmaker magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film, as well as one of the decade’s Best New Filmmakers by Richard Brody of the New Yorker magazine. He has written about film and the arts for The Nation, n+1, Film Quarterly, and Filmmaker.
