Curator, cultural manager and producer with ten years of experience in international cooperation in the field of immersive media. Initiator and curator of the Digital Cultures festival, the fifth edition of which took place in 2024. Propagator and promoter of Polish art, whose recognisability she has built by collaborating with such festivals as SXSW, MUTEK, Tribeca Film Festival and Sheffield Doc Fest. From 2020 to 2023, she was associated with Visual Narratives Laboratory (vn-Lab), where she was responsible for VR distribution and international relations. She also works as a programme advisor for immersive festivals, including IDFA Doc Lab. Anna Szylar has also acted as co-producer of immersive experiences – the VR piece Cricoterie by the collective Tale of Tales and the experience ‘Messages to the Post-Human Earth’ by the group Anagram and ‘Gymnasia’made in collaboration with Felix & Paul and Phi Center. In 2024, she founded Monster Mind Studio, which helps artists develop opportunities for exhibition collaborations and supports festivals in developing XR section programmes. She represents the Polish art collective pan-Generator in the implementation of its international strategy, programs festivals interested in new media art and XR in the broadest sense, and coordinates the production of events and exhibitions. Szylar is also involved in research projects on building a VR archive (the results will be presented as part of the IDFA DoLab R&D Programme) and promoting sustainable digital production (in partnership with the CEPIR project coordinated by Amaury La Burthe).
