Caspar Newbolt is an English filmmaker, graphic designer and photographer who presently resides in Berlin, after working in New York City for over a decade. His 25-minute narrative short film, Leaving Hope, is streaming online on nobudge. In 2003, he co-founded the graphic design company Version Industries, since which time he has remained creative director and lead designer, consulting and producing digital and print-based artwork for clients like A24, Facebook, Daft Punk, JJ Abrams, Disney and Louis Vuitton. Caspar has worked in an art direction and design capacity for film directors such as Chloé Zhao, Trey Edward Shults, Tim Sutton, Jazmin Lopez, Patricia Rozema, Rick Alverson, Gerardo Naranjo, Ash Mayfair, Matt Porterfield and Braden King, and bands such as The Protomen, 65daysofstatic, Makeup and Vanity Set, Big Black Delta and Alessandro Cortini. He is the Creative Director of Filmmaker Magazine, for which he co-designs each issue from cover to cover. Caspar’s critical writings on film, design and advertising have earned the respect of luminaries such as David Carson and Florian Schmidt.
