Born in Sardinia, Silvia Perra graduated in Communication Studies at the University of Cagliari, then graduated in Film Directing at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – Italian National Film School in Rome, with the director Gianni Amelio as her Master.
In the school she wrote and directed several short films and her diploma The Window, shot in Sardinia, has been screened in festivals such as Torino Film Festival – Festa Mobile, and in international BAFTA Qualifying festivals such as Angers Premiers Plans IFF in France, DokuFest IFF and winning prizes in many others. As author and screenwriter she won the ARTE International Prize by ARTE France Cinéma for the best international screenplay entitled Domina Maris at the MIA Market in Rome, afterwards selected in Co-Productions Forum such us Thessaloniki and Montpellier (where the script won the Titra Prize).
She has been chosen as artist in residence at the Moulin d’Andé – Center des Ecritures Cinématographiques in France, a prize awarded by a jury headed by Georges Goldenstern.
Within an artistic residence in Sardinia held by the director Michelangelo Frammartino, she wrote and directed the short creative documentary The rite, selected at 40th Filmmaker Festival in Milan and at FIPA – Biarritz. This documentary inspired the 16mm low-budget feature film project Deus Cherzat, that will be set in Sardinia.
