Dóra Csernátony was born in Budapest in 1973. Early in her career she co-founded the art groups Vakuumtv and Supergroup which created avant-garde multimedia projects and hosted large-scale public art events. Her production and content development experience comes from her career in television. She has executive produced a number of cultural TV series and creative documentaries. Her most important work in television is Propaganda, the only Hungarian cultural TV program to have won the Pulitzer memorial prize. The program has run for 21 seasons and featured over 300 episodes since 2003.
In 2016, Dóra co-founded the production company Poste Restante with director Lili Horvát to create a home base for open and independent-minded filmmakers. Their first production, Preparations to Be Together for an Unknown Period of Time by Lili Horvát premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in 2020. The film has also been presented at Toronto and Busan among many other festivals, and won major awards worldwide. It has been nominated for the Independent Spirit Award, and longlisted for the European Film Awards. Currently, Poste Restante is producing Lili Horvát’s upcoming projects, the sophomore feature of One Day director Zsófia Szilágyi and a fairytale for grownups by first-time director Zsuzsi Konrád.
