Choreographer and dancer
Born in 1956 in Umag (Yugoslavia) Ariella Vidach began producing her choreography in New York where she moved in the 80’s inspired by the work of the most significant artists of the postmodern dance generation as Trisha Brown, Dana Reitz, Steve Paxton and with the aim to deepen her study in contemporary dance. Her work was presented in the United States, Canada, Germany, Holland, France, Switzerland, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia and Macedonia, Turkey, Luxemburg, Cuba and Portugal.
She is co-founder of Avventure in Elicottero Prodotti , founded in 1988 in Lugano and she creates in 1996 with Claudio Prati, the Ariella Vidach – AiEP dance company with which she produced multimedia performance among others: Exp (’96), Drans (’98) and Beat Box (’00), Opus (2001), Buffers (2003), DanxyMusic (2004), Id (2005), Intervita (2007), .Mov (2009). The Ariella Vidach – AiEP dance company has an artistic residency inside the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milano an old industrial area that was renovated and reused as cultural and artistic venues.
In 2013, with AiEP, she was awarded the WSA E-Content Creativity Award promoted by the U.N. for its innovative research work on interactive technology and dance.
Among their most recent productions HABITdata, HU_Robot and GIGAsuite explore the relationship between body and robotics; Temporaneo Tempobeat uses collective and plural choreography to investigate the vocal and gestural potential of performers to create an engaging and empathic happening, combining vocal and movement skills in innovative forms.
In 2016 thanks to the collaboration with internationally renowned artists like Moni Ovadia and Studio Azzurro, they created the performance Delfi Cantata for the main season of the Teatro Olimpico, Vicenza.
From 2009 to 2011 TecArtEco was created and conceived within the Interreg framework: a European cultural project for the promotion through public events of interactive technologies applied to visual arts, performing arts and choreography with the MAGA Museum, Como Assessorato alla Cultura and Conservatorio, DAC/DGE Lugano, Italo-Swiss University SUPSI, Museo Cantonale d’Arte.
In 2017 with DiDstudio and Danae Festival, AiEP realized the international project Swiss Contemporary Factory with the support of Pro Helvetia and the Swiss Institute.
In 2017 with Claudio Prati was awarded the “Premio Speciale Danza” as part of the Swiss Dance Awards promoted by BAC UFC-Federal Office of Culture.
In 2020 with AiEP company gained additional support from Pro Helvetia’s Close Distance call to respond to ‘distance’ and find new research and creative perspectives during lockdown, resulting in the new ongoing production DancetheDistance.
It also partners the INTERREG Young Inclusion project on community care.
She currently teaches at Scuola D’Arte Drammatica Paolo Grassi and continues her research producing performances concerning the relationship between body and technology. She lives and works in Milano and Lugano.
