“How did you meet?”
Posted by Laura CitarellaMariano Llinás – our producer – and I have been working together since 2003 on our independent little company called El Pampero Cine. We met at Universidad del Cine. Mariano was one of my script’s teachers and some years later we ended up working together. I produced his second feature film, Historias Extraordinarias and now I’m producing his third feature film, La Flor. He also produced my first feature film, Ostende. During these years, far from only being partners, Mariano and I became friends and I must say that sometimes our close relationship reminds me the one I have with my own family. On 2012, Mariano started helping Verónica – that, by the way, is his sister — on a project she had been thinking of for years: La Mujer de los Perros. Verónica is a very well known actress in Argentina. She had written her own theatre plays like ‘Gambas al Ajillo’ in the 80s. But this was the first time she intended to write her own film. That is why Mariano and she started thinking and developing the idea of La Mujer de los Perros. Halfway through the year, Mariano had to travel and suggested Verónica and I to start doing something together. The idea was only to try something, to know what could result from that union. After that — which started maybe as a game or something with no compromises at all — it ended up on an intense year of work together. During this past year, Verónica and I walked once and again through the countryside of Moreno looking for places to shoot, we took pictures, we looked for local actors, we built a house, we shoot some documentary images, we wrote, we discussed, we agreed, we disagreed and we finally decided to face this film — our little family’s own private treasure — together.
