A Sardinian peasant-shepherd who lives isolated with his dog and considered the village idiot, finds himself in possession of secret magical healing prayers delivered to him by the old dying matriarch.
After that, he begins to be seen in the village as the new holy man, whose house up the hill becomes a pilgrimage destination. But the limelight are ephemeral, because for a very precise reason, the chosen one seems to be momentarily just a halved holy man…
A folktale about social redemption of a lonely soul, that draws a social image of the agro-pastoral Italian villages in the process of disappearing, between Sardinian popular beliefs and ethnographic investigation.
Based on a true story.
