Jaysan, un vivace bambino di 5 anni, deve trasferirsi in un villaggio lontano con i suoi nonni mentre i suoi genitori migrano in Russia per guadagnare soldi per la loro futura casa. Promettono di tornare prima che inizi la scuola, ma col passare del tempo, Jaysan comincia a sentirsi tradito e abbandonato poiché i suoi genitori non riescono a mantenere la promessa.
Jaysan lotta per adattarsi alla vita con i suoi nonni, che non capiscono i suoi interessi, vietano i dispositivi e non prendono sul serio i suoi sentimenti. A causa del suo carattere testardo, Jaysan ha conflitti quotidiani con la sua severa e controllante nonna. They promise to return for him before he starts school, but as time goes on, Jaysan begins to feel betrayed and abandoned as his parents fail to keep their promise.
Jaysan struggles to adapt to life with his grandparents, who don’t understand his interests, forbid gadgets, and take his feelings lightly. Due to his stubborn character, Jaysan has daily clashes with his strict and controlling grandmother. Though his grandfather tries to support him as much as he can, Jaysan longs for the energetic presence of his father and the tender comfort of his mother.
Despite the challenges, Jaysan finds solace in his new friends, Jasmin and Amir, and discovers the joys of school. However, his newfound happiness is short-lived when his grandfather suddenly dies, leaving his strong and reserved grandmother unable to cope.
Jaysan’s mother returns from Russia for the funeral, but their bond seems broken. As Jaysan reflects on his grandfather’s quiet strength and realizes the important role he played in the family.
